Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is also called the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year. It is the most popular and longest holiday in Midland China; people who work or do business far away from their home town, will go home and reunite with their families, friends, and relatives.

CNY festival people together for dinner and reunion:

CNY holiday is one of the longest holiday festivals in the People’s Republic of China and other countries which is influenced by Chinese culture and society; they visit their family members and re-united spend time with each other talking about good days, bad days, and so forth with love and affection.

Reunion with loved ones who love you, and who you love- in life, nothing is a happier moment than this.  In my opinion, staying with parents, eating together, talking happy moments, laughing, recalling each other the past, and enjoying the meeting with coffee together.

Clean house and remove the bad luck

As usual, the cleaning process is always necessary whether festival time or other time, but our intention is to focus more on tidiness during the festival time because many people may come to visit each other’s home. The cleaning room/ flat during the CNY spring festival has a different belief. People believe that cleaning will eliminate all toxic and bad luck from the house and welcome good luck. Therefore, New year cleaning is vital for a higher good.

People use new dresses and authentic traditional food.

Kids are enjoying much out of all the other age groups. They want new clothes, ask for money from their parents to buy sweets and other stuff, enjoy with grand parents collecting gifts like cloth, and other things, therefore children’s are the ones who love the festival much – parents are always happy with their kinds happiness.  However, adults are responsible. They feel good reuniting with their families and friends. Mostly in this time, people use typical Chinese dress and eat traditional food in a group of people i.e families, society, etc.

Decorate doors and windows with papers the color paper:

Yes, it’s Chinese culture, they usually decorate doors, windows, and some other spaces home i.e room and outside with colorful paper decorations for the welcoming New year, and let go of bad fortune. Even, we have seen in Hong Kong and China big residential complexes that decorate with light, all these paper stuff and making venue attractive.

Welcoming the Good Fortune:

The spring festival always comes with Good fortune- when we give us a blessing to others always say “Kung Hei Fat Choi” which means wishing for prosperity; wish them to become wealthy which indirectly say lucky in a year and ahead.

Give the red pocket envelope to the juniors for good luck:

A red pocket envelop is one of the most popular ways of wishing for prosperity good luck during the Chinese new year time. Especially, Seniors will give red pockets for juniors or the same age, colleagues can exchange. Especially, unmarried boys and girls will collect large packets from others with is termed as lucky money and used for a specific purpose. I also notice that even office many suppliers send a Laisi

China is a big country with a large population. Many Chinese people are spread out and living in many countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Macau, Taiwan, etc. Even though they are an ethnic minority in that country, they can celebrate Chinese New Year ear happy in their community.

Yearly symbolic representation:

Each Chinese New year comes with different animals representations like the year 2022 is a year of Tiger or called Tiger Year likewise I presented some more future year representations for reverence.

The 2022 year of Tiger

The 2023 Year of Rabbit

The 2024 Year of Dragon

The 2025 Year of Snake

Also, people’s thoughts come based on their behavior which backend how their parents live, society and culture, etc. In Chinese culture, they believe what their birth year and which allows the nature of the specific animal. Like pees on who born in a Tiger year, 2022, they believe that the nature is like a tiger e.g brave, active sport or so…
