Discovery Bay beautiful residential area for expat and foreigners and tourist spot in Lantau Island. It is quite, peaceful, but highly rich for it’s beauty.

DB is an extremely unique countryside area. Around 17,000 people living there, mostly from the English speaking countries like USA, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and others. It’s an entirely natural region It takes 20-30 minutes from the Central Ferry Pier to reach isolated DBay. Discovery Bay is an ideal place to stay. However, the only mode of public transportation is ferry and buses.

Non automobile area:

Discovery Bay is a very peaceful place and a bit far from city area where cars and taxi’s are not allowed. This makes it a super quite, pleasant and eco-friendly residential area.

Route to reach Discovery Bay

There is no MTR services available, however, there are some popular routes to reach there like ferries and buses.

Ferry services are available regularly from 6 am to midnight. Overnight ferry service is also provided, but with little more extra cost.

You can take a ferry from Central Pier no.3 directly to go to Discovery Bay.

There is also a bus service available from Hong Kong International airport to the DB

What to explore in DBay?

Hiking

There is a lot of hiking areas are available. I am not personally fan of hiking, but for those who love hiking, this place is the best one.

Discovery Bay Beach

The DBay it’s itself a beautiful place with a hill area. The beach is one of the most popular spots for tourists. The beach is called Tai Pak Wan, it is very nearby the market and ferry terminals. This is very good for kids as they have a children’s playground and a huge sand area to play.

Sunday Market

There is a fun market with small stall venue which is like a small trade fair to support local business. Basically, selling products like handmade DIY items, also food and drinks available to buy. There is no cost for the visitor to go

DBay Hotels

Many travelers would like to stay discovery bay. Also, many locals who are tired of daily home and office work and wants to stay away from the crowds and pollution. They choose to stay at DB and spend a day to a week at peace. Apart from Hotels there are also some restaurants available for locals as well as for the tourists. ‘The resort Hotel Auberge’ in Discovery Bay as one of the best place to stay.
